Dr. Anisha Sawkar Tandon is a Radiologist with a super-specialization in Paediatric Radiology. She was previously an Assistant Professor in Radiology for 5 years at St John’s Medical College Hospital and is extremely qualified in all aspects of Radiology having performed approximately 10000 ultrasound scans per year and reporting 1,00,000 radiographs, 8000 CT scans and 7500 MRI scans per year. Her vision for the future at Sakra World Hospital is to provide comprehensive Paediatric Radiology services as a one-stop-shop, create one of the best Neonatology Imaging centres, and also to develop an atmosphere of “Clinically-oriented Radiology and Evidence-based-Imaging” where each diagnostic investigation is tailored to the needs of the referring physician with the provision of timely and accurate diagnostic services.
Having completed her basic Medical and Radiology training at the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College hospital in Sion, Mumbai, she went on to complete her advanced Radiology training at the Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences, Mumbai. She completed her DNB in Radiology and was awarded the Professor Arcot Gajaraj Gold Medal by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. She continued to work as an Associate Consultant at the Bombay hospital Institute of Medical Sciences after her training and received an additional period of training in Mammography at the Tata Memorial Cancer hospital. She has over 8 years of General Radiology experience and has a fellowship in Paediatric Radiology from the University of Texas Medical Branch, USA, where she worked with Dr. Swischuk, who is a world-renowned Paediatric Radiologist. During her fellowship, she gained further experience in all subspecialties of Paediatric Radiology, particularly Neonatal Neurological, Thoracic, and Abdominal disorders.
Her areas of interest include Paediatric Radiology, Neuroradiology & Head & Neck Imaging and Abdominal Imaging. Her special areas of expertise in Paediatric Radiology are Paediatric Renal pathologies, Paediatric Head and Neck pathologies and Neuro-Imaging in Neonatal and childhood central nervous system disorders.
- She co-authored 3 papers with Dr. Swischuk and also presented at the Radiological Society of North America meeting.
- She is also actively involved in continuing medical education in Radiology and has been a part of the Radiology education foundation (www.refindia.in) which aims to train and educate postgraduate residents of Radiology.
- During her tenure at the St. Johns hospital, she was actively involved in academics and post-graduate training and has several papers and publications to her name.
- In addition to being a reviewer on the panel of the Indian Journal of radiology, she has been a regular guest speaker at the National Conferences of Radiology and is also a part of the Bangalore Paediatric Radiology symposia.
