Overview

The Serology laboratory performs and offers expert interpretation on a broad array of laboratory tests and comprehensive consultation in diagnostic immunology, autoimmune disease testing and infectious disease serology. This section monitors autoantibodies that are generated in a variety of diseases such as, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Sjögren's Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Myositis and Celiac disease.

Medical Microbiology Laboratory has extensive experience in diagnosing and recommending appropriate antibiotics for patients with bacterial and fungal infections within the shortest time possible.

Molecular testing laboratory has the capability to diagnose H1N1 within hours thereby helping our physicians on treating these patients on a priority. Diagnosis of tuberculosis with sensitivity to antitubercular drugs is also done within hours, where as conventional diagnosis takes months. This plays a crucial role in early treatment and control of this deadly disease. Viral loads of a variety of infectious diseases is done to confirm and monitor treatment.

As a part of infection control programme, regular and timely surveillance of the operation theatres and Intensive care units are performed. Policies on the appropriate use of antibiotics and disinfectants are implemented.
