I underwent pulmonary rehabilitation at your Rehab Centre between November 2019 to February 2020. Just to give you a brief, I stay in Delhi and went to Bangalore to visit my son. I have been suffering from small airways disease for the last few years. I had also gone under pulmonary rehabilitation at Delhi at a centre which was just a one-room with two beds and I was taught 6-7 breathing exercises.
At the time of coming to Bangalore, I was taking steroids and my physician told me to consult some doctor in Bangalore once the prescribed medication is over.
Since we didn't know anyone in Bangalore, we just googled and came across Dr Sachin. I must say I was lucky to come across him. He explained in detail the concept of rehabilitation and asked me to pay a visit to your rehab centre if I was interested. Since the term pulmonary rehabilitation was not new to me, I, but naturally was not that inclined. However, my visit to your rehab centre instantly changed my view. I was impressed by the equipment and the manner in which the patients were being treated by different therapists.
I was initially attended by Komal Agarwal and Kartik. They both were very patient and explained to me the smallest of the details on how to cope up with my situation. These small nuances have really helped me. These logics were not explained in my previous therapy in Delhi.
Though I could not attend all the 18 sessions and whatever I attended that also was not at regular intervals, still I have learnt a lot about breathing techniques which are helping me a lot.
To sum up, I owe my thanks to Dr. Sachin. Komal, I cannot express my feelings in words. She is really an asset to the hospital. Always ready for help - 24x7.
I had a few sessions with Muddasir and Jeetu who again were very helpful. Also, I cannot miss mentioning Aditi, a very sweet girl. Another thing which I observed and would like to mention that all the therapists work as a team irrespective of their fields and specialities.
Republic Day function was a pleasant surprise.
I would like to conclude this feedback by saying that I have a very memorable experience of your rehab centre and would not hesitate to recommend this centre to anyone.
I wish you and your entire team all the best and am sure that they will keep on doing the good work as always.
Warm regards
Ranjana Bahri
Sir,
I am Ashok. V. Nesargi, a COPD patient of Dr. Sachin Kumar. I joined Pulmonary Rehabilitation on Doctor’s advice.I was reluctant to take the therapy because I was apprehensive that it may not work out beneficial. However, I decided to take rehabilitation therapy at the rate of 3 sessions per week.
Being a COPD patient, breathlessness constrained my routine activities. Oxygen supply was required for almost 16 to 18 hours daily. As the physiotherapy sessions progressed my condition started improving. First 10 sessions were difficult. Later on as the sessions continued my breathing condition and endurance improved a lot.
After 19 sessions I am happy to say that my movements are not restricted now. My dependence on oxygen supply is reduced considerably.
I would like to thank Ms.Komal Agrawal, Cardio Pulmonary Physiotherapist & Mr. Karthik, Yoga Therapist, for their interest, encouragement and the workout they planned to help me overcome my condition of breathlessness and improve endurance ability.
Regards,
Ashok Nesargi
Dear Mr.Saril, This is for your kind information that, I was under going therapy sessions in your facility during the period from 11th Apr. to 30th May-2019. I would like to share with you my personal experience & the benefits what I got while attending the therapy sessions.
I am a 76 yr. old male, maintaining average health with regular practice of yoga, pranayama etc I don’t suffer from ailments like Diabetics or Hypertension. It was middle of March 2019 I had experienced low intensity remittent type of fever, initially I was treated with generique medicines for common cold & influenza, but when it didn’t respond to it, I had no option than to visit Sakra World Hospital OPD & consulted Dr. Subroto Das (Internal medicines) According to his advice, I took admit ion on 28th of March, 2019 for further investigation & treatment.
Subsequently It was diagnosed that I was suffering from N.S.I.P.& accordingly treatments started and after observing improvements, I was discharged on 30thMar.-2019.
There after, I was having follow up treatments under Dr.Sachin Kumar (Dept.of Pulmonology). Dr.Sachin advised me to undergo physio therapy along with medications for better results. Initially I was reluctant to go for it, but ultimately I opted for the same. After few sessions I myself could feel the difference in ease of breathing & increase in physical endurance & stamina level. This was possible due to the fact that the volume of air I could inhale has significantly increased due to enhanced lung capacity, resulting increase in Oxygen saturation level in my blood stream. Even after physical exhaustion, oxygen saturation level was within the normal range, compared to earlier, under similar conditions.
Personally I am thankful to the team of physio therapist who attended to me & helped me to practice the relevant exercises. My sincere thanks to Mr.Rohit Sinha, Mr.Kartik & Ms.Komal Agarwal, who continuously monitored my performances & improvements on every sessions, which motivated me to stretch my self a little to perform at the next level. After completion of 18 sessions of physio therapy, I am confident that I will be able to live my normal life & attend to my day to day activities as before. Currently I am in Danville (California) spending good times with my family.
My name is Ayesha. I would like to share my experience on pulmonary rehabilitation sessions I have been going through since last 2 months. I am actually a patient of Dr. Sachin Kumar at your hospital. I have been diagnosed with bronchiectasis and the right lower lobe of my lungs collapsed Dr. Sachin Kumar briefed me about your pulmonary rehabilitation centre and the benefits of the sessions. He asked me to meet Dr. Komal Agarwal.
I have been having a wonderful experience with Dr. Komal. She is efficient and professional and at the same time she is very friendly. She made me feel fully comfortable. Even in her busy schedule she is always reachable whenever I tried to contact her. Sometimes due to her busy schedule she handed me over to her other colleagues. But she made sure that I get the same attention and care as she used to give. I had a wonderful experience with all of them. And I really felt the difference after I started taking up the sessions. My 6 min walk test that was performed at the start and at the 10th session showed a great difference and I am pleased about it. Though my basic problem is still sometimes reappearing, I felt refreshed and energetic after each session. My exercise tolerance level has also improved.
Since I am satisfied with the sessions I planned to continue for a few more sessions after the course is over.
I am really thankful to you Sir and your entire team and my special thanks to Dr. Komal.
Best Regards,
Ayesha
Dear Sir,
On the advice of my consultant Dr. sachin Kumar, I joined Pulmonary Rehabilitation in your department under the able supervision of Ms Komal, I started on 23-6-2018 and attended 15 sessions till 10-8-18. Again I joined the followup session on 4-12-2018 for 9 sessions, which is about to complete.
I found it necessary to give you feedback of my experiences during Pulmonary Rehabilitation. When I joined for the first time on 23-6-2018 it was after hospitalisation (period 10-6-2018 to 14-6-2018) at Sakra World Hospital itself. My breathing condition was very bad. Although I recovered during hospitalisation but hardly able to walk and bathe. But it was a miraculous change and I felt nice in all my activities after Pulmonary Rehabilitation exercises.
The equipments available at your department are very good and the physiotherapist Komal is extraordinary in her job. She is very much patient friendly, sincere and having thorough knowledge of her profession. All equipments are in very good working condition. The activities of the center were well managed.

I am a patient of Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) since 2014. During the course of my treatment, I had consulted Hospitals, like Apollo, Max, and AIIMS and now recently Sakra World Hospital.
The treatment of Dr. Guleria, Director AIIMS suited me and I am under his treatment for the past two years. During December 2018, I decided to consult and take a second opinion from Dr. Sachin Kumar as Dr. guleria has become extremely busy due to his commitment as a Director. I sincerely wish to thank Dr. Sachin Kumer for his outstanding support and treatment.
During this journey of treatment from 2014 till date, I have taken Rehabilitation Programs for Pulmonology ILD from Philips, AIIMS and now with Sakra World Hospital.
I wish to put on record that Sakra World Hospital Program has been very well structured and it takes care of the all round development of muscles and is not only limited to breathing exercises. This program design has helped me much more than what is offered by others.
This programme is outstanding and helpful for a patient like me because of the special effort, dedication, personal supervision and commitment to duty of Ms Komal Agarwal who was my Trainer I went through the Program under her guidance and supervision. I have all praise for her dedication.
I would also like to state that I enjoyed the atmosphere and energy which I noticed in the team members of this Rehabilitation Program. Each one of them are dedicated and passionate about their job.
I also wish to thank the other staff of Sakra World Hospital who all follow similar philosophy and culture
Wishing you all the best

My experience of Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Sakra World Hospital
1. I have been under treatment for pulmonary problems including COPD by Dr. Sachin of Sakra for over two years. I was doing very well under his treatment.
2. During Feb-Mar 2018, I had to visit NCR twice for 10 days each within a gap of 30 days.
3. I visited Dr. Sachin thrice during March-April due severe coughing and breathlessness. He admitted me for close monitoring. I was discharged in three days
4. I was also diagnosed with early stages of Fibrosis, in HRCT. Dr. Sachin advised treatment for Fibrosis after I regained strength and appetite.
5. In addition, he suggested Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR). I could barely walk without help due to extreme breathlessness and weakness.
6. As a layman, I had reservations on PR, considering it to be an ‘allied venture’ of Sakra to make money. But, due to my faith in Dr.Sachin, I registered for PR att sakra during May‘18.
7. I was assigned to Komal Agrawal for rehabilitation. She was extremely professional, kind and devoted to the assigned responsibility. She designed exercises incrementally, based on my weakness and requirement.
8. I attended 18 sessions, three per week during May-Jul’18. In the beginning it looked harsh but results were encouraging. Sincerity of Komal and her efforts, encouraged me to repeat exercises at home also, as my condition improved.
9. By the end of my sessions, I gained four kgs in two months and could walk and look after myself on my own. I couldn’t have even imagined such improvement when I registered for PR at Sakra.
10. It was a pleasant surprise for me to go through PR. It is extremely useful for patients. Without going through it, one may not appreciate its importance and usefulness.
11. I am thankful to Dr. Sachin to suggest it and grateful to Komal Agrawal, to look after my rehabilitation so diligently.
With best wishes,
Col A K Tiwari (retd), VSM
I, Dipak Chattopadhyay, came to Sakra World Hospital at Bangalore to get treatment for pulmonary disease of Dipak Chattopadhyay, resident of Hooghly, West Bengal. We are attended by Dr. Sachin Kumar who prescribed medicine as well as Pulmonary Rehabilitation treatment under the able guidance of Ms Komal Agarwal. We attended the for five days. We had a unique experience here. Ms. Komal on the very first day assured us even if attend the session for one she is still ready to serve us with her full team. She is as soft as her name suggests (Komal means soft), very assuring supportive, competent to manage gracefully all types of situations. Her whole team to name a few, Mr. Karthik, Ms. Prajakta, Ms. Archana, Ms. Reshma, Ms. Vani, and Ms. Jamuna all are dedicated to the patients.
Dipak Chatopadhyay enjoyed all the test, advice, guidance, I became a more confident person to fight with the disease. I now know fully the meaning of Rehabilitation with the help of the team in Sakra Hospital. In short we found a home away from home.
We wish all success of the Rehab family if which we have become a part.
I have been referred by Dr Sachin Kumar to undergo 18 sitting of rehabilitation course in your department. As required I have completed the full course. During my course I feel the whole staff very cooperative. The course has been attended by staff very sincerely. Specially Dr. Komal Agarwal attended is appreciable. Yoga class taken by Karthik is also good.
I sincerely thank the management & staff for the work done by them.
On the advice of my consultant Dr Sachin Kumar, I joined Pulmonary Rehabilitation in your department under the able supervision of Ms Komal, I started on 23-6-2018 and attended 15 sessions till 10-8-18. Again I joined the followup session on 4-12-2018 for 9 sessions, which is about to complete.

1) WHAT IS SNORING?
A block of airflow through any part of the breathing passage in the mouth and/or nose causes turbulence & vibrations of the soft tissue. The sound that these vibrations cause is called snoring.
2) WHAT CAUSES SNORING?
When we are awake the upper part of the airway to the lungs is held wide open by muscles. However, when we are asleep these muscles can become rather slack allowing the airways to narrow, causing turbulence & vibrations.
3) WHAT CAN PREDISPOSE TO SNORING ISSUES?
• WEIGHT: Excess fat, especially around the neck area, squashes the airway
• SMOKING: causing nasal lining to swell and produce excess catarrh. This results in nasal congestion
• ALCOHOL/SLEEPING TABLETS: causes a decrease in the tone of the muscles that keep the breathing passage open leading to airway collapse
4) WHAT MEDICAL CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE SNORING AND SLEEP APNEA?
Conditions causing the nose to become blocked
• Recurrent cold or allergies
• Nasal polyps
• Deviated nasal septum
Conditions causing the throat to get choked up
• Large tonsils
• Large uvula and soft palate
• Bulky back of the tongue
5) IS SNORING A SERIOUS PROBLEM?
Snoring may seem to be just a personal problem affecting only our partner and family. It can also be a social problem, especially when we travel. But Snoring may also be a sign of a more serious condition called SLEEP APNEA or OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) which can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, lung problems and diabetes amongst a whole list of other medical problems!
6) WHAT IS OSA (OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA)?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea occurs when there are repeated episodes of complete or partial blockage of the upper airway (Apnea) during sleep. During such episodes, the brain wakes up and ensures that breathing resumes (usually with a loud gasp, snort, or body jerk). These episodes can interfere with sound sleep. They can also reduce the flow of oxygen to vital organs and cause irregular heart rhythms.
7) ARE THERE ANY TESTS TO CHECK IF I HAVE OSA?
• Polysomnography (Sleep Study): This is an overnight test which monitors our sleep pattern, sleep breaks, heart and lung activity while sleeping oxygen levels etc.
• Sleep Endoscopy: A thin flexible camera is used to look for obstruction while the patient is asleep
8) CAN I DO SOMETHING MYSELF TO TREAT THIS PROBLEM?
Sometimes snoring can be treated with changes in lifestyle, such as:
• Weight loss
• Quitting smoking
• Reducing the use of alcohol, sedatives and sedating antihistamines
• Changing your sleep position to the side and/or elevating your head and neck
9) WHEN SHOULD I MEET AN ENT DOCTOR?
In most cases, a person with OSA is not aware of these repeated awakenings because they occur below the level of consciousness. One should consider meeting an ENT doctor if:
1. Complaints of snoring from partner/friends/ family
2. Feeling of daytime tiredness, sleepy feeling,
3. Poor quality sleep with problems of memory, concentration, and mood changes.
10) WHAT CAN BE DONE TO TREAT THIS?
• CPAP machine
• surgical procedures
• Newer minimally invasive radiofrequency reduction procedures
