Dr. Vijay Kumar H.J completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Mysore and Post graduation from Bangalore Medical College. He also has a fellowship in Intensive care medicine from Apollo Medvasity, Hyderabad. He did his DM Gastroenterology from the prestigious SGPGI, Lucknow.
He has secured many medals and won quiz competitions at State & National levels. He presented papers in various scientific conferences and was awarded a travel grant for paper presentation at Seoul, Korea and Singapore.

Gastroenterology & Hepatology is a subdivision of medicine which deals with the digestive system or elementary diet.
What are Gastrointestinal disorders?
The gastro diseases start from mouth, oesophagus, stomach, intestine to rectum, including diseases of liver, and pancreas. Some of the GI disorders are constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, perianal infections, colitis, colon polyps, and cancer.
What are some of the common signs and symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders?
It depends on the GI area. Some of the common signs and symptoms are bleeding, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting, and jaundice.
What causes Gastrointestinal disorder?
The causes may start from the food we consume and blue ulcer malignancies.
How do you treat Gastrointestinal disorders?
It requires a short course of treatment which requires 3-5days with usually symptomatic medications would be given unless somebody presents with very major issues where we need to admit them, keep them as inpatient and live them in the ward. Treatments include endoscopy procedures, injection to prevent bleeding, some therapeutic procedures performed through endoscopy, admission to the ward, giving IV fluids, medications, antibiotics, etc.
